I Am From

I am from music filled rooms
Never missing a beat.
I am from sweat pants and lazy days
Always dressing for comfort.
I am from people fading away
Leaving this world in front of my eyes.
I am from people growing
Watching as they pass through life stages.
I am from tears flowing
With heartbroken cries.
I am from laughter echoing
With unspeakable joy.
I am from loud relatives
Who can liven up any room.
I am from supportive friends
Who can turn frowns upside down.
I am from experiences
The happy and horrifying ones.
I am freedom
So often sought after by others.




Tears, screams, worries, fears- all of it is suddenly washed away. A sense of peaceful healing fills me until I am nearly bursting with joy. The drums boom, the brass wails, and the woodwinds, including my own flute, sing. My soul is lifted. My smile is returned. My heart is relieved. And all else is all but forgotten.
